The Ceiling

The Ceiling

In June 2010 I presented this work at the Kunstvlaai exhibition in Westergasfabriek in Amsterdam that lasted one week. It was accompanied by a performance. During the exhibition I was permanently at work to add decorations that were taken from the ceiling of the Schliemann’s Mansion in Athens. The Schliemann’s Mansion used to be a house before it was transformed into the Nomismatic Museum of Athens. I tried to question how the function of a space can change while its basic components remain the same.
This wooden construction was an attempt to remake a ceiling of a typical upper-class house in Greece.

I used wood, acrylic, graphite, foam ornament and a lamp.

The dimensions of the construction were 3 x 3 x 0,6 m.
